Advanced Search - Legislation
JustCite indexes UK primary legislation from 1235, UK SIs from 1949 and Irish Acts and SIs from 1999. See also: More detailed notes on legislation coverage.
It is important to understand that in JustCite you will do most of your searching via the main Search box. However, the Advanced Search is useful for handling certain specific search problems which the main search box does not handle well, such as where you want SIs issued under a particular parent Act.
Search operators are fully supported in the Advanced Search. However, the predictive search and the ability to deal with variations in spelling are restricted to the main Search box and are not available in Advanced Search.
Available Fields
Title – This is the short title of the Act or SI, such as Companies Act 2006 or The Registered Designs Rules 2006.
Reference – If you know the stautory reference for a piece of legislation enter it here, but you must enter a full stop after the c for the search engine to pick it up e.g. 2007 c.1 s7. SI references are always in this format: SI 2008/312, where the first four digits are the year. See also: recognised citation formats for legislation.
Repealed toggle – As JustCite includes all legislation whether in force or not, this field allows you to restrict results to only those provisions which are in force, or only those which are repealed.
